The Denver Broncos release starting Strong Safety T.J. Ward. This didn’t come at that big of a surprise due to all the rumors that were being released saying that he would be traded or cut. The rumors kinda caught everybody off guard because T.J. Ward had 87 combined tackles, 3 forced fumbles, and a interception. Which this was his best year in Denver stat wise but they paid for a Safety that could have a 100+ tackle season like he did on the Browns. So that’s what really lead to him getting cut. When he was cut a lot of teams were interested in him such as the Steelers, Panthers, and Cowboys. Most people thought the Steelers would get him but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed him to a 1 year deal worth 5 million dollars.
There was a few reports of the Buccaneers attempting to sign him but no one thought they would sign him because they signed former cowboys safety J.J. Wilcox. After the Buccaneers signed T.J. Ward they started to see trade offers they could get for J.J. Wilcox. They ended up trading him to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The trade involved J.J. Wilcox and a 2019 7th-round pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 6th round pick.
