Raw Recap 8/21/2017

The August 21st episode of Monday Night Raw is LIVE in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and it kicks off with a hot start!

Universal Champion Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman kick off Monday Night Raw

Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and his manager Paul Heyman are in the ring as Heyman cuts a promo how Brock Lesnar retained his Universal Championship last night at Summerslam in a Fatal-4-Way Match. He also stated that no one can take that championship from Lesnar before BRAUN STROWMAN comes out to a loud ovation and he takes out Lesnar with a Big Boot! He then hits a Powerslam! He holds the Universal Championship up high as Lesnar is down and out. Overall, a good segment to kick start Raw and hopefully we see these two battle at No Mercy for the Universal Championship. I give it a A (amazing)!

Enzo Amore vs. Big Cass in a Brooklyn Street Fight

Before this match (which we have seen for the one millionth time), Enzo Amore cuts a pretty good promo about how he and Cass met at Brooklyn 15 years ago and he brings a shopping cart filled with weapons which none of them were even used in the whole entire match. During the match, Big Cass went for the Big Boot but Enzo dodged the attack and he took a pretty nasty bump outside the ring. The match ended when Cass went for the Empire Elbow before he fell down to the mat holding he knee which was injured earlier in the match. Enzo Amore WINS since Cass is unable to compete. This match was a disappointment and hopefully this is the last match between these two because everyone is tired of this feud. I give this match a D (bad).

Nia Jax vs. Emma

This short match ends after a Samoan Drop on Emma. This match didn’t even last a minute or two and WWE is really showing us that they’re not pushing Emma anytime soon which is really sad. She deserves more. F (disaster).

R-Truth vs. Elias

Before the match, Elias shows great heel work as he taunts the live crowd and their hometown and sings a song about R-Truth before the match begins and ends quickly when Elias hits the Drift Away (rolling cutter) for the squash win. D (bad match though good segment pre-match).

John Cena appears on Monday Night Raw

Raw General Manager comes out and introduces free agent John Cena! Cena cuts a promo and says he wants to meet face-to-face to a special someone which is Roman Reigns! He comes out to the regular bad ovation and the crowd is booing both men tonight on Raw! Both men take shots at each other before The Miztourage comes out! The Miz takes shots at both men as the crowd is going crazy for Miz and is booing the hell out of Cena and Reigns! Miz asks the crowd if they want Cena and they reply with “NO” chants! Cena then challenges him and The Miztourage to a tag team match with him teaming up with Reigns! Miz declines as SAMOA JOE comes out! He takes shots of his own at Reigns and Cena, before announcing he will team up with Miz against both Reigns and Cena tonight on Raw before attacking John Cena! The Miztourage attacks Roman Reigns but he fights all three men off before saving John Cena from Joe! Cena and Reigns stands tall as the crowd chants “YOU BOTH SUCK”. This segment was really great and seeing these four men feud for the Intercontinental Championship would be awesome. This segment was an A (amazing)!

Drew Gulak, Tony Nese, Ariya Davari, & Noam Dar vs. Gran Metalik, Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander, & Mustafa Ali in an Eight Man Cruiserweight Tag Team Match

The crowd hated this decent cruiserweight match on Raw as they started using the beach ball and creating a wave. The match ended when Cedric hit a devastating Lumbar Check on Tony Nese for the win for his four man team. The cruiserweights are trying to perform a decent match but the crowd always rejects them. I’ll give this match a C (okay). After the match, it was announced that Neville will face Akira Tozawa in a Summerslam rematch for the Cruiserweight Championship on 205 Live tomorrow!

Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose address they’re Summerslam championship victory

Seth Rollins says that he and Ambrose are on the top of Raw and they’re ready for challengers as THE HARDY BOYZ come out and Matt Hardy teases the broken gimmick as they want a match right now up next as Rollins calls an official ref down!

The Hardy Boyz vs. Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins in a non-title match

What an amazing tag team dream match between both teams! This great match ended when Seth Rollins hit the Kingslayer and Dean Ambrose followed up with the Dirty Deeds! This match proves that Rollins and Ambrose will put great tag team matches in the future with every team they face. Looking forward to a great reign and I give this match a B+ (great).

Sasha Banks addresses her championship win at Summerslam

Sasha Banks prays for Ric Flair before taking shots at Alexa Bliss before she comes out and takes shots of her own towards the champ. Sasha then says they should have a rematch here on Raw tonight! Alexa Bliss declines and sees she chooses the rematch on her own and doesn’t want a championship celebration for the Bliss fanboys (me lol). Overall, pretty good segment, kinda short but it was okay. They’ll probably face at

No Mercy since Alexa Bliss is on the commercial. B- (okay).

Jason Jordan vs. Finn Balor

Pretty slow match between two great wrestlers. Jason Jordan needs to turn heel and not take of advantage of Kurt Angle being his father. Both guys needed the win and in the end, Finn Balor hit the Coup de Grace for the win. C (boring). After the match, it was announced that Alexa Bliss will face Sasha Banks in a Summerslam rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship next week on Raw!

The Miz & Samoa Joe with The Miztourage vs. John Cena & Roman Reigns

Pretty slow match until it’s final moments. During the match Roman Reigns accidentally hit John Cena with a Superman Punch but in the end Cena pinned Miz with an Attitude Adjustment! During the beginning of the match, the crowd was playing with the beach ball before personnel took it away, angering the crowd which was quite funny. I kind of thought this match dragged to long but it wasn’t that bad. I would love to see Cena vs. Reigns in the future as well as Joe vs. Cena. This main event was a B (good).

Final Grade: B- (Fun)

Upcoming Matches:

Neville vs. Akira Tozawa for the Cruiserweight Championship on 205 Live

Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship next week on Raw

Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at No Mercy
