There’s only a few days left until the biggest event of the summer. Summerslam is looking pretty stacked and I’m here today to give you my thoughts on each match and who will come out the victor.
Match #1 – Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Braun Strowman vs. Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns in a Fatal-4-Way Match for the Universal Championship and if Lesnar loses the title, he will leave the WWE with Paul Heyman
This match will most definitely be the main event of the pay-per-view event. WWE is going all out to avoid giving out any prediction on will walk out champion. Rumors are being sparked that Brock Lesnar will make a “shocking” return to UFC, which is the biggest mixed martial arts company in the world to face Jon Jones. Though Brock Lesnar’s contract reportedly doesn’t end until after WrestleMania 34 in 2018. Lesnar only defended the title once which was at Great Balls of Fire and I believe he will retain the championship. WWE made Lesnar tease leaving WWE to raise the question if he will go to UFC. If Lesnar somehow doesn’t win, I believe Roman Reigns will win the match so he could reunite with The Shield and they could all hold gold around their waist. Samoa Joe was booked strongly throughout last month and so did Braun but I believe it’s too early for them to get ahold of a world championship.
Match #2 – Jinder Mahal (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship
This is another difficult match to predict. WWE is holding an Indian live event soon and Jinder Mahal is definitely popular over there but Nakamura could be getting his hands on the world title especially with all the popularity he’s getting at the moment. Though seeing Jinder retain the championship with help from the Singh Brothers is very likely and he could be heading into a feud with Rusev at Hell in a Cell, due to the fact they have unfinished business from Raw and that Rusev was demanded a WWE Championship match on Twitter during his injury recovery. I believe Jinder will most likely retain the title but Nakamura will still look strong.
Match #3 – AJ Styles (c) vs. Kevin Owens for the United States Championship with Shane McMahon as Special Guest Referee
This one is fairly easy in my opinion. AJ Styles will most likely retain the title after Kevin Owens is too busy arguing with Shane McMahon which will probably lead to them having a match at Hell in a Cell or having a Team Shane vs. Team Owens match at Survivor Series. AJ Styles could possibly have a U.S Open Challenge will unused talent such as Sami Zayn, Luke Harper, Mike Kanellis, etc. to bring more viewers into Smackdown Live every week and possibly mark the return of the Shelton Benjamin during an open challenge match.
Match #4 – Cesaro & Sheamus (c) vs. Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins for the Raw Tag Team Championship
With Sheamus possibly leaving the WWE for a while to film a movie and Ambrose & Rollins being the number one tag team on Raw right now, they could possibly leave Summerslam as tag team champs. Easy prediction and expect a fun tag team match between both teams.
Match #5 – Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship
Hard match to predict because this match could go both ways. The build up to the feud has been arguably rushed so Alexa could retain but Sasha Banks could be the winner if Bayley was booked to the title if she wasn’t injured. When a superstar usually gets replaced, the new superstar put into the match usually comes out the victor and that could happen to Sasha Banks at Summerslam.
Match #6 – Naomi (c) vs. Natalya for the Smackdown Women’s Championship
It’s been awhile since Natalya held a women’s title and tonight could be the night. I doubt Carmella would cash in her contract because WWE has been teasing her cash in for weeks now and they usually do cash ins unexpectedly and at times where many people don’t know when. Natalya will defeat Naomi and Summerslam will have another Hart family moment.
Match #7 – Randy Orton vs. Rusev
Rusev will probably defeat Orton since Orton had recently got a win over WWE Champion Jinder Mahal on Smackdown two weeks ago. This could build up momentum for Rusev and he could head into the world title picture against Jinder Mahal and it makes sense. He will also get his win back against America after losing to Big Match Jawn at Battleground.
Match #8 – John Cena vs. Baron Corbin
I believe Baron Corbin will unleash rage against Cena for costing him the WWE Championship on Smackdown and will probably lose by disqualification.
Match #9 – Big Cass vs. Big Show will Enzo Amore in a Shark Cage
Big Cass will probably lose the match after he accidentally knocks out the ref and Enzo Amore will find a way to unlock the Shark Cage and jump on Big Cass and give Big Show the win. Nothing much to say because I doubt any cares about this match.
Match #10 – Demon Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt
Both men need this win desperately but with Wyatt recently getting a win against Balor on Raw, and twice against Seth Freakin’ Rollins, this match will go to Finn Balor with his demon persona which we haven’t seen since last year’s Summerslam. Why would WWE bring the demon gimmick for him just to lose? Doesn’t make sense and I predict Balor will get the win 100%.
Match #11 – Akira Tozawa (c) vs. Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship on the Pre-Show
Tozawa won’t just win the title and lose it. He will most likely retain against Neville which might lead to Neville being angry like on 205 Live and deciding to quit the Cruiserweight division and join the heavyweights in the main roster on Raw (or Smackdown).
Match #12 – The New Day (c) vs. The Usos for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships on the Pre-Show
The Usos defeated The New Day recently on Smackdown in a non title match and I believe The New Day will get revenge and retain against The Usos ending the long feud once and for all.
Match #13 – Jason Jordan & The Hardy Boyz vs. The Miztourage on the Pre-Show
Jason Jordan & Hardy Boyz will most likely get the win with Jason Jordan pinning The Miz making a Intercontinental Championship in the future, probably at No Mercy.
Hope you enjoyed my Summerslam predictions, be sure to discuss in the comments who will walk out the winners at Summerslam 2017.
