It may be middle of August but the NBA schedule release is the most exciting day for an NBA fan. Last Monday the NBA released it’s 2017-2018 season schedule. This season for the first time ever will feature less back to backs. Also for the first time ever this season the NBA eliminates teams playing 4 games out of 5 days. With all this being said the NBA season will begin on Oct 17th,which is one of the earliest dates in recent memory.
That night’s game will feature Celtics vs Cavaliers. Gordon Hayward debut for his new team. Plus Jayson Tatum rookie debut. However, that storyline may be overshadowed by it being the 1st regular season game without Kyrie Irving or Kyrie/Lebron on court tension. The second game features Houston Rockets/ Chris Paul debut vs the defending champs Golden State Warriors. Oct 19th is the debut of Lonzo Ball & LA Lakers vs Chris Paul less LA Clippers. Nov 1st Houston Rockets vs New York Knicks. This could be Carmelo’s return back to New York or this could be just another Knick loss! Dec 13th is Paul George return to Indiana. NBA’s favorite day is of course Christmas Day. Unfortunately, for NBA fans the Knicks will be playing as well. Knicks vs Philadelphia Sixers is the first game, followed by Cavs-Warriors. Celtics-Wizards right after Cavs-Warriors. The Marquee matchup and primetime Christmas Day game will feature Houston Rockets vs Oklahoma Thunder at 8 PM. Which should Garner some great ratings for ABC that day. The late night cap is Timberwolves vs Lakers. You better believe “Big Baller Brand” founder Lavar will treat us all to a great Christmas day matchup/interview as his son Lonzo will take the court against new look Minnesota T-Wolves and Jimmy Butler. Rockets play Clippers on MLK day. Chris Paul can expect crowd to be less welcoming towards him as he returns to LA. Feb 9 is Jimmy Butler return to Chicago. Last but certainly not least LeBron James and Cavs will play LA Lakers on March 11. The significance of this game is Lebron pending free agency and possible move to LA. Should be an interesting slate of games this season! If you think last season was great this season will be even better.
