With its latest signing Bellator proves once again to be a haven for the legends of MMA. Frank Mir has announced he has signed a multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA. Mir announced the news on his “Phone Booth Fighting” podcast. He stated his desire to fight in multiple organizations after being locked in the UFC for most of his career, something Bellator was agreeable with.
Mir also stated he is getting paid more than he did with the UFC and expressed his desire to face Fedor Emelianenko. I’m not surprised by the news at all. Mir fits the Bellator profile to a tee. Older legend of the sport who has a big name and is a former champion, but his prime years are behind him. Bellator has a pretty weak heavyweight division, so he will be an asset there and if Fedor is going to continue fighting, doing so against someone like Mir makes sense.
