Raw tonight is being held in Kansas City, Missouri and it is the last show before WWE’s first major event since Wrestlemania.

The show opens up with a recap of Braun Strowman taking out Roman Reigns two weeks ago and followed up by last weeks main event between Strowman and the Big Show where the ring collapsed.

Chris Jericho’s ‘Highlight Reel’ is the opening segment in which Y2J discusses that it’ll be the last appearance for his show or himself as at Payback he plans on winning the US Title and moving to Smackdown Live!. Y2J’s cut short by The Miz and Maryse who change the Highlight Reel’s set into ‘Miz TV’. Dean Ambrose makes his way to the ring and changes the design of Miz TV into ‘The Ambrose Asylum’. Dean Ambrose cuts into a promo with Y2J before The Miz interrupts him stating that he should be showered with gift’s after being drafted to Raw, Dean Ambrose tells The Miz he has a gift for him hitting him with ‘Dirty Deeds’ ending the segment.

The next match up is a singles match between Sheamus and Matt Hardy who came out to a huge pop, Sheamus dominated throughout the match. Matt briefly was knocked out of the ring where Jeff tried to check on his brother but Sheamus tossed him back into the ring. Jeff jumped up onto the apron arguing with Sheamus, a distracted Sheamus was hit with a ‘Twist of Fate’ for the victory by Matt Hardy. After the match the tag teams argued but resolved it by shaking hands.

Backstage Raw GM Kurt Angle is on the phone but The Miz with Maryse demanding a match against Dean Ambrose and Y2J. Kurt grants him the match but states he needs to find a tag team partner.

Next up is a tag match between T.J. Perkins and ‘King of The Cruiserweights’ Neville vs Jack Gallagher and Austin Aries. Lot of in and outside ring action and Aries almost locked in his ‘Last Chancery’ but Neville broke it up. The match finished with Austin Aries hit the ‘Discus Five-Arm’ on Perkins for the Win.

Braun Strowman cuts a promo inside the ring calling the crowd & Kalisto garbage and warned Roman Reigns about their match at Payback. Backstage Kurt Angle asked if he wanted to back out of the match. Kalisto states he’s not garbage and is fighting for his pride tonight against Strowman.

The match Strowman dominated Kalisto throughout with Kalisto managing to get some offense in and multiple times Strowman nearly won tossing Kalisto into the garbage. Strowman was about to win lifting Kalisto up but Kalisto escaped and drop kicked Strowman knocked him into the garbage for the Win.

After the match Strowman attacked Kalisto and tossed him into the garbage, eventually leading up the ramp in which Strowman buckled the bin down and pushed it off the ramp with Kalisto inside. Afterward Kalisto would be stretchered away

Roman Reigns promo of his Wrestlemania victory and being attacked by Braun Strowman a few weeks ago.

Bray Wyatt promo on Randy Orton in their ‘House of Horrors’ match at Payback.

The next match is a Women’s match between Alicia Fox and Dana Brooke, pretty quick match between the two with Dana winning with her version of a ‘Michinoku Driver’.

After the match Emma made her into the ring hugs her and congratulates her.

Backstage Gallows & Anderson are interviewed alongside Samoa Joe and they cut a promo about their match against Seth Rollins alongside Enzo and Cass.

Enzo and Cass make their way to the ring cutting their usual promo but are quickly attacked by Gallows & Anderson with Enzo being taken out and unable to participate in the match.

After a commercial break Kurt Angle’s music hits and he states that he has a new partner for Big Cass and Seth Rollins. Finn Balor’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Lot of big spots hit by everyone and the match looked like it was going to end with a ‘Pedigree’ by Seth but instead went with hitting Anderson by pulling him into a knee to the face for the win.

Backstage the Miz is trying to find himself a tag team partner with Sheamus/Cesaro saying no.

Alexa Bliss cuts a promo about others always talking about having dreams of becoming WWE Superstars and becoming a WWE Champion. Bayley made her way to the ring and says she obviously is being talked about by Bliss and that she defends her title every night and in her hometown at Payback she’ll remain champion. Alexa says she’ll get to embarrass Bayley, beat her down and take her title in front of her father and her hometown. Sasha makes her way to the ring and challenges Bliss but Alexa says it’s not gonna happen but is quickly hit by Sasha with a forearm knocking her outside of the ring.

After the commercial break it’s Sasha Banks vs Alexa Bliss which was a good back and forth between the two but Alexa ended up walking out of the match giving Sasha the count out victory.

As Alexa made her way up the ramp Bayley returned and looked like she was about to bring Bliss back to the ring but she escaped and ran backstage, but made her way back and attacked Bayley from behind and soon chased off by Sasha.

Backstage Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho talked strategy in their match tonight. Elsewhere the Miz is still trying to find a partner for his tag match.

Curt Hawkins cuts a promo for his ‘Raw Open Invite’ with Apollo Crews answering the challenge, both got some good offense in but Crews got the Victory with a ‘Spin out Powerbomb’.

After the match as Apollo Crews was celebrating Titus O’Neil came down and celebrated the victory and shot a selfie with Apollo.

Backstage Kurt Angle and The Miz speak backstage and Kurt wishes the Miz good luck but The Miz states with founding his tag team partner tonight he won’t need it.

Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho made their way to the ring followed by the Miz, The Miz tried a few times to introduce his mystery partner who did not come out, the Miz said they’d need to postpone the match as his partner hadn’t arrived to the ring. Kurt Angle’s music hits and he states the match is happening whether or not The Miz has a partner.

The match begins and for the most part The Miz got no offense as it was a 2 on 1 Handicap match and as it looked like The Miz was going to be sent through a table Bray Wyatt’s graphic hit and he appeared on the announce table. Bray hit ‘Sister Abigail’ on Chris Jericho and as the Miz celebrated beside Bray, Bray hit him with ‘Sister Abigail’ as well ending the show.

Decent show but it didn’t really feel like one that was leading to a PPV event and the pacing kind of felt off, the Dumpster Match was the match mainly advertised but it was placed pretty early on and should have been leading into the 2nd hour or near the end. Interested to see at Payback what happens between Sheamus/Cesaro vs The Hardyz and the match between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns.
