Kobe is a VERB

Written by: Kosher

Kobe’s name has evolved from more than being a name of a person it’s a brand, a brand you can trust. When you do a sick cross over and hit the baseline jumper in 2k what do you usually say? “Kobe” when you’re playing your friends in a pick up game of basketball what do you say when you make an impossible shot? “Kobe” when you’re crumbling up pieces of paper and throwing it into the waste bin…. “Kobe” whether you like it or not Kobe is as great as a player as you think he is, hate it or love it the underdog is on top.

Kobe isn’t some physical specimen, he doesn’t have large hands like Jordan and he doesn’t possess the physical physique of Lebron. But that didn’t stop him from doing what he loved and being great at it. He often played through injuries that required surgery but he just adjusted his game to keep going. He figured if he was gonna go 20 years into the league he couldn’t just keep slam dunking on people he had to learn how to use all facets of the game to excel where most players either couldn’t or didn’t know how.

Now this is the NBA where the most competitive basketball in the world is played and he’s sitting on top of it all. Going out as a household name, a legend an icon. What he did for the Lakers although controversial still brought in the gold. I’m from LA I saw this first hand. This man who took the franchise from Magic’s hands basically and got the baton and never looked back. I remember when he was 96 drafted, I remember the alley oop to Shaq, I remember Colorado, I remember the string of 60 point games, I remember 81, I remember 8, I remember 24 I remember the finger, achilles, knee, shoulder injuries, I remember his only MVP season, his 5 championship rings, his Gold medal in the Olympics. Through this all I thank him, he gave us all he could and you don’t even think twice. You just can’t think twice. He played the game as a video game his will was shown in every game he’s ever played in. I am honored that he was on a team I love and he is my favorite basketball player without a doubt.
He definitely didn’t come to take part he came to take over. Kill or be kill mentality, is rare in the NBA he is defiantly last of a dying breed. Yes, I said defiantly because he came into the league shooting 4 airballs in Utah to lose the game and he goes out of the league dropping 60 against Utah in only Black Mamba historic fashion. A winner!
