Sept. 17, 2011 was the last time Floyd “Money” Mayweather won a fight by knockout. If you know boxing, you know Mayweather isn’t going to give you exciting, fast paced fights with hay-makers thrown every round. He breaks his opponents down, getting his timing right before the 3rd or 4th round. So when last year reports of him knocking out his sparing partner came out, it added to the electricity to the what was being dubbed as the fight of the century. Mayweather vs Pacquiao. Obviously the aftermath of that fight left many boxing fans with bad taste in their mouth.
Once again it’s that time for another Mayweather fight. Sept. 12, 2015 he goes against Andre Berto for what Mayweather is calling his last fight. Badou Jack, the WBC Super Middleweight champion and The Money Team fighter had this to say.
Are these reports coming out to sell the fight and continue Mayweather’s PPV dominance? May vs Pac broke mostly every record PPV and Las Vegas had to offer. This fight doesn’t have that type of hype. Rumors floating that Berto had a relationship with one of Floyd’s exes and that fueled this fight to get made. Women make men do crazy things and that extra aggression could lead to an explosive fight. But rumors are rumors and we know what type of fight Mayweather always brings. With Floyd’s history of hand problems a KO seems an unlucky outcome and TMT milking every million they can get out of this fight is just how they operate.
